Homemade Sticky Buns

My homemade sticky buns are the perfect indulgent treat this holiday season. These light, fluffy and yeast-free buns are SO easy to make!  Be sure to wow your family with this delicious breakfast treat.

  • Fluffy Biscuits
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cup half and half
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • Filling
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • Sticky Sauce
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half and half
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup chopped pecans
Directions
  1. Sticky Sauce: Place sticky sauce ingredients, not including the pecans, into a medium saucepan, over medium heat. Bring mixture to a gentle boil and continue cooking for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set heat to lowest setting and stir in vanilla. Begin preparing the rest of the recipe, while sauce remains on lowest heat on stove.
  2. Filling: Place ‘filling’ ingredients, not including the pecans and melted butter, into a small bowl. Stir together to fully combine and set aside.
  3. Sticky Buns: Place ingredients into medium mixing bowl and stir together, using a fork. Add melted butter and half and half and mix together, using a fork, until dough comes together. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and gently knead together 5 times. Roll out dough into ½ inch thickness rectangle - approx. 16” long by 12” wide.
  4. Assemble: Preheat oven to 400. Brush surface of dough with 3 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle filling mixture over surface of dough, including ½ cup chopped pecans. Carefully, tightly roll dough along the longest edge towards yourself, pinching the seam together. Cut dough evenly into 1 ½ inch pieces. Pour two thirds of the sticky sauce into the bottom of 9 inch round baking pan. Sprinkle ⅓ cups chopped pecans over sauce. Place dough pieces over sauce. Pour remaining sticky sauce over top of buns. Bake for 40 to 50 on middle rack of oven or until golden brown and dough cooked through.
  5. Remove from oven and carefully invert onto serving dish immediately. Serve and Enjoy!
